The Community Cup took place at The Warren on the 18th October 2020. In total there were 13 teams competing from various parts of the UK.
Due to Covid typical KickOff@3 tournaments couldn't go ahead as usual but Michael and Ashley wanted to have one event in place of the traditional National Finale if permitted by Covid restrictions.
Thankfully by October restrictions had relaxed enough to enable to Community Cup to go ahead, abiding by the current restrictions and with a detailed risk assessment in place.
Every single team and individual that took part did themselves proud, in their playing, and attitude and respect toweards others. There were many prize and trophy winners throughout the day but a HUGE congratulations to Kingswood Blues for winning our KickOff@3 Community Cup 2020, not many knew, but they were actually a newly formed estate based team playing in their first ever tournament, coached and managed by a team of amazing young women. The winning team were helped to form by PC Tom Smith from SouthWark and Lambeth Police.
Big thanks to our special guests Dr Angela Herbert, Marcus Gayle, Mr Orin Lewis (ACLT co-founder), Paul Cannoville and Mr Colin Wingrove Borough Commander of SouthWark and Lambeth MET Police and of course our event sponsor Andrew from Hammonds Builders.
Finally congratulations to the runners up St Matthews Project and a special shout out to our all girls team (Plymouth Girls) who travelled all the way from Plymouth! Their goalkeeper Ruby was goalie of the tournament and Katlyn from Jellop Youth Club (based in Harringey) won female player of the tournament!
Kingwood Blue's Nadene won outstanding player of the tournament and Musa won player of the tournament.
On 11th August KickOff@3 held a local planning meeting where it was decided we would hold a local St Albans tournament. We had just under 5 weeks to turn an idea into a reality, and what an event it was.
On the day we had a fantastic 9 teams, 3 from the local area and 6 traveling from various parts of London. There are too many people to thank individually but KickOff@3 would like to say a huge thank you to our volunteers and ambassadors, our referees, the Police Cadets, Royal Air Force and Met and Herts Police that helped run or support on the day.
Special thanks also to Wendell of StreeMicPod for his hard work in putting together videography, June B and Jim Standen for the amazing photos of the day and ambassador Shane Sandiford for keeping the vibes going with his DJ skills.
